The Russian Storybook
von Richard Wilson
Gelesen von LibriVox Volunteers
In Russian Storybook, Reverend Richard Wilson retells traditional Russian stories for English-speaking children, offering a window into a storytelling culture he found distinct from those of Western Europe.
Wilson presents the tales in his own words rather than as direct translations, aiming to make them accessible to young readers. The collection draws on stories gathered from Russia’s eastern Christian communities, as Wilson understood them in the early twentieth century.
This is a historical retelling of folk material, shaped by its author’s effort to introduce children to another culture through stories. Listeners can expect a collection of tales rather than a single continuous plot.
