the Ambrose Bierce chapter especially well read and beautifully written. Also liked the first hand account of the Battle of Tennessee. Some chapters hard to understand.

my favorite anthology in any genre. contained within was the piece, "The Passing of the Armies", touched me as as deeply as any historical document I've ever read. (12/5/2025)
