The Wit and Humor of America
par Various
Lu par LibriVox Volunteers
This first volume of The Wit and Humor of America gathers 53 short stories and poems by 44 authors, offering a varied introduction to American comic writing.
Rather than following a single plot or cast of characters, the anthology moves between brief works in different forms and voices. Its range makes it suited to listening in short stretches, with each piece offering a fresh take on humor.
Published in 1907, the collection is the opening volume of a ten-volume series. It offers a snapshot of the wit and comic styles represented in American writing at the time.
