Ryūnosuke Akutagawa
Gelesen von Togo Igawa
Experience the chilling tale of "Hell Screen," a short story by the renowned Japanese writer Ryūnosuke Akutagawa. This haunting narrative explores the clash between a powerful medieval lord and an arrogant painter, leading to tragic consequences.
In this two-part adaptation, the story is brought to life by Togo Igawa, with translation by Jay Rubin and direction by Gemma Jenkins. Akutagawa, often regarded as the father of the Japanese short story, masterfully blends Japanese and Western literary influences in his work.

Though a translation, the worth of Ryanusuke Akutagawa's ability as a writer is excellent. I would hope to find more here...like In a Grove or Roshomon. The reader was exceptionally effective and , I think, a reason for the value of the story even as a translation.
well read. Grim tale with mysterious human reactions.
