The Red Skelton Show is an American television comedy and variety show that became an entertainment staple from 1951 to 1971, captivating a generation of viewers. Prior to hosting the show, Richard "Red" Skelton enjoyed a successful career in radio and motion pictures.
Although the series is primarily associated with CBS, where it aired for over sixteen years, it actually began and concluded on NBC. Throughout its run, the program garnered three Emmy Awards, recognizing Skelton as the best comedian and the show as the best comedy program during its initial season, along with an award for comedy writing in 1961.
In 1959, Skelton also received a Golden Globe for Best TV Show, further solidifying the show's legacy in television history.
