Tarzan of the Apes
Edgar Rice Burroughs
Leído por Jim Pierce
Edgar Rice Burroughs' "Tarzan of The Apes" first appeared on radio in a syndicated serial that lasted for 286 episodes. Sadly, only the first 77 episodes are known to have survived, meaning we are suddenly cut off mid-stream. The show aired three times each week, on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, with each episode running for about ten minutes.
The first episode was presented to radio fans all over the state, sponsored by the Signal Oil and Gas Company. Critics and thousands of motorists who attended the World Premiere Radio Show at Fox Pantages Theatre in Hollywood proclaimed it the most fascinating and colorful radio program they had ever heard. Among those who participated in the stage show were Jim Pierce, who took the part of Tarzan, and Joan Burroughs, the talented actress and daughter of Edgar Rice Burroughs.
