The Dust Flower
par Basil King
Lu par Simon Evers
Rashleigh Allerton, a wealthy New Yorker, quarrels with his well-to-do fiancée Barbara and impetuously says that he will marry instead the first person he meets. The book follows the result of this absurd promise, with consequences that neither of them (nor Rashleigh’s faithful elderly man-servant Steptoe) expect. - Summary by Simon Evers

Critiques
Engaging plot with unsentimental sweetness
Cici
Well-developed, believable characters are vividly portrayed in events that are usually driven by human weakness. Steptoe’s sanity, courage, and kindness are immovable in the midst of hostile forces. Simon Evers reads it beautifully.

First of all, thank you to Simon Evers for doing an amazing job reading this story. Very well done. What a great story. The author did a great job with building the characters in the story and in keeping you interested. It was story that really depicts the social glass issues yet the pride in the loser class in being self sufficient.
Unpredictability Predictable

Such an EXCRUCIATINGLY WONDERFUL TALE!! of course by just reading the 'dust jacket' one knows the ending of this novel, it's the twists and turns that make this a brilliantly delivered tale. Simon Evers.... you are an international treasure! i actually started a "Simom Evers Favorites" list of my own :-) March 2021
Excellent Reader, Good Story
Scott in Sandy Eggo
This was a good study in character based relationship, the dynamics of controlling personalities, and their counterparts. However, Simon Evers makes this story truly come alive with his incredible knack for dialogue. He is a great Artist.

Beautifully read! The story was interesting and gave good insight into the class structure of the time. But the heroine was so annoying at times for her impractical decisions that it made the story less than appealing.
My Fair Lady Meets NY Society
TLocke
A too-hasty drunken marriage to a lower class homeless actress. Trials and conflict; courage and a good heart win the day. A nicely read, but pretty predictable romance novel.
A captivating little story!

The reader was excellent. He really made me feel like I traveled back in time! I loved the characters and couldn't wait to hear the next chapter.
Super Reader

Mr. Evers is as effective as ever in this story! The tale itself has some bright moments and a few dull ones, but overall is worth a listen.
