The Life of St. Teresa offers an intimate glimpse into the spiritual journey of one of Christianity's most revered figures. Written by St. Teresa of Avila herself, this biography chronicles her profound experiences as a mystic and reformer during the tumultuous times of the Counter Reformation.

Born in 1515 in Spain, Teresa's life was marked by her dedication to the Carmelite Order and her efforts to revitalize its practices. Through her writings, she shares her insights on prayer, contemplation, and the nature of divine love, providing a rich tapestry of her inner life and the challenges she faced as a woman of faith.

This work not only highlights her personal struggles and triumphs but also situates her within the broader context of religious reform. St. Teresa's legacy as a Doctor of the Church and co-founder of the Discalced Carmelites continues to inspire countless individuals seeking a deeper understanding of spirituality and devotion.

I listened to this over several months, and found it at times difficult to follow. I think St Teresa even writes about not knowing about what she just wrote in chapter 19 around minute 14, and I just started laughing. That was unexpected. Other times, I thought her writing on prayer was incredible. The book and reading were meditative at times. The reader did a good job, and was not difficult to understand.

Excellent book.
