Redburn: His First Voyage
Gelesen von James K. White
Herman Melville
Melville wrote of some of his earliest experiences at sea in the story of Wellingborough Redburn, a wet-behind-the-ears youngster whose head was filled with dreams of foreign travel and adventure. In Redburn, the protagonist enlists for a stint as a seaman aboard Highlander, a merchant ship running between New York and London. As with many of Melville's works, this one is as much about class and race as it is about the sea. (Summary by James K. White) (0 hr 36 min)

Narrator Made All the Difference
Kerin G.
While the book itself, in my opinion, is long and far too drawn out for what it needs to be; the narrator, James K. White, does the most amazing job of bringing some of even the most droll of moments to life. He does a fantastic job reading this massive tale, with changing accents and reading sections in full French and Latin. The book itself is nothing special, but the narrator has made this experience for me truly enjoyable and memorable. I will certainly recommend this audiobook solely based on the work of Mr. White.

Only one who has lived that sailing ship life as a novice could write such pictures. Brilliant reader.

Great book, and well read, but the reader mispronounces a number of words, like foliage and bowline.
