Mrs. Henry Wood
This is a saga about life in a small town in England during the Victorian era. The "stars" of this saga are the Channings. Mr. Channing was ill and, because of his poverty, his six children have to work. Many things happen during this saga: a man confesses to a theft which he thinks his brother did, a lady is engaged to a gentleman much above her station, and so much more. But in the middle of all this you can find plenty of family love. (Summary by Stav Nisser) (20 hr 6 min)

This is good literature at it's best. Filled with morals befitting good and decent living.; even self sacrifice to a courageous degree. This world make an excellent bedtime story or even a book for read aloud family times. Hard to come by books like this in our modern times, yet the story is relevant even to today. Wonderful author, the book keeps a pleasant pace, never drags, always keeps you wondering what's next.

More than you ever expected to know about the inner workings of 19th century English public schools, cathedral towns, boys' choirs, office politics, social classes, family pride and reputation. Besides all that, it's a pretty good story of a few eventful months in the life of an attractive family.

I like solo readings better than collaborations but the story carried me on. And there was much more to think about beside a very interesting,(if possibly improbable) plot! Very glad to have stumbled on this book. (Or was it Providence?)

Quite a special story of family love and trials. I liked the suspense, but was so pleased with the ending. As another said, it's a gem! I loved the way the author wove in God's work. Beautifully done!
