Gunman's Reckoning
Gelesen von Richard Kilmer (1942 - 2022)
Max Brand
A typical early 20th century western. It's a tale of a tough guy who gets involved with an evil man with an angel daughter for whom the tough guy falls. His efforts to recover hers and her father's gold mine claims is the story. Not a lot of shoot em up but enough story to make one want to finish the book to see how things work out. (Introduction by Charles Montgomery) (8 hr 45 min)

Description does no justice. Donnagan is the whitest of the black, but no less dangerous than the other end of a 9 ring rattler tail. A pretty straight forward western, with plenty of grit and shooting iron.

A long tale.. Kept me guessing with all the twists & turns.. Reader can be a little monotonous at times but the story was interesting enough I had to finish. All's well that ends well.

A masterpiece from Brand. I have never rrad a better western. Don't bother trying to figure out the ending, just enjoy getting there. Kilmer did his usual great job.
bad offering

Good book lacking any attempts at an ending !!! Not a mistake to be expected from this caliber of author. This makes the entire book a major failure.

it's ok, but didn't find it keeping me awake to listen to the the next chapter or it's final outcome. but it did have very good narrator.
Wonderful wonderful book. This is my second time listening to it. I enjoyed it this time, just as much. As I enjoyed It the first time. Versteele

Long, Philosophical musings...twists and turns makes the story longer than necessary...abrupt ending... assumption how things will go...a few loose ends....many chapters... listen if nothing else
Great Story

I really enjoyed this book. I am not sure what the complaints are about the ending. It was a good read start to finish.
