Essays on Political Economy
Gelesen von Katie Riley
Frédéric Bastiat
Bastiat asserted that the only purpose of government is to defend the right of an individual to life, liberty, and property. From this definition, Bastiat concluded that the law cannot defend life, liberty and property if it promotes socialist policies inherently opposed to these very things. In this way, he says, the law is perverted and turned against the thing it is supposed to defend. (Introduction by Wikipedia) (7 hr 16 min)

Excellent Book. Reading Leaves Some To Be Desired
BBH
This Treatise is a wonderful work by a very knowledgeable philosopher. He explains some of life's intricacies in an unconfused manner, not very difficult to understand. This book should be required reading for our modern societies' children. The reading is lackluster and slightly monotonal, however not uncomprehendable or painful in the listening.
Terrible reading
While I am certain the content is compelling, this particular reader has made listening to the book the equivalent of unanesthetized dental extractions. Please, someone, read this as though future listeners are expected to be living, breathing human beings.
Thank you Katie Riley

Thank you Katie for taking the time to read this captivating book. The book contains some interesting arguments from Bastiat concerning the organisation of society. Definately worth a listen.
No life in this reading.

Bastiat is supposed to be engaging, funny, emotional and sarcastic in the right places. This reading is lacking in life, I can't get through more than a minute.
Rocky D. Rogers
Simple explanations for a complex subject. It allows you to begin at most any chapter and gain a better more clear understanding of what’s being presented.
Awful Reading
Fantastic work by Bastiat. The reader here absolutely butchered it and made it a chore to listen to. Librivox, please, anyone but this reader!
Timothy Bowman
The reader was very adept, I have no idea why another reviewer complained of the quality of reading.
Bastiat speaks truth!
