Even when the readers are awful, I like to think of them as if they are my sons or daughters or some family member reading to me out of kindness and respect for my old age and poor eyesight, and it makes me feel grateful. That said, some degree of oversight and quality control would not hurt the Librivox project.
I'm new here, and I was disappointed at first
ahem
My first listen was to Chris Karan's reading of The Principate of Hadrian. It was hard to understand with severe mispronunciations, stilted cadence, and manifest unfamiliarity with the terms. Thankfully I didn't give up and have found other readings helpful.
