'The Beast in the Jungle' is a 1903 novella by Henry James, first published as part of the collection, The Better Sort. Almost universally considered one of James' finest short narratives, this story treats appropriately universal themes: loneliness, fate, love and death. Great narration

The narrator was very calming - I wish he had introduced himself. The story itself: what the heck was going on? This is supposed to be a ghost story, according to The Haunting of Bly Manor trivia. I kept expecting Marcher to realize he was a ghost. At least I finished it which is more than I can say for my attempt to read this novella.
James at his most tedious

Really dull story of an extreme head case, with James verbose as usual, saying the same thing over and over. Reader was ok for this, but it wouldn't have made any difference if a computerized voice read it.
Unbearable regret and loss

This poignant and altogether remarkable story is given a wonderfully sympathetic reading. I send my heartfelt thanks to Rob James.
