Sinclair Lewis
This road trip novel is set in the early twentieth century and follows the experiences of an aristocratic New Englander and her father as they travel by automobile from Minneapolis to Seattle. She is wooed and won by a noble but simple commoner she meets along the way. Lewis is at his usual wryly humorous self, poking fun at the upper class and treating the common people only slightly better. Summary by Hollis Hanover. (8 hr 22 min)

It just goes to show that there is no such thing as bad publicity--I was browsing librivox titles and saw this one with a low rating, checked it out to find out for myself, and totally disagree with the earlier review. Every ear is different!
This is one of my favorite books

Fascinating tale of an early cross country motoring adventure a century ago AND a heart warming love story besides. Very well read. I don't know what the 1/7/2010 reviewer is complaining about. Maybe the audio quality was fixed after he heard it. Five stars. Highly recommend.
Cute 1920's Hallmark story

I really enjoyed this little coming of age story about 1920's life. Milt Daggitt is someone I can relate to and I enjoyed Mr. Hanover's reading. Written just before his masterpiece "Main Street", makes this one a nice prelude.
Oh, What a Romp!

lLove the story love the characters and the verbal banter was outstanding. So well written and well read. I didn't want the adventure to end, but to go on, and on.

Delightful. Good story about not taking life & social "distinctions" too seriously.

Another great story of the US early last century. Nicely read.
