When London Burned
Gelesen von Keith Salis
G. A. Henty
Follow the exciting beginnings of the career of Sir Cyril Shenstone. Orphaned at the death of his father, Sir Aubrey Shenstone, Cyril begins to use his intelligence and honesty to help merchants with their bookkeeping. While this is not an adventuresome lifestyle, Cyril finds opportunities to help his employer and build his standing. Through some Providential occurrences involving a fire of wealthy estates, thwarting burglaries, saving the honor of a young maiden, and saving the Price's ship in a battle, Cyril is put in command of a small vessel and further aids the British navy in battle. The story enforces for us the importance of looking for God's will in our lives, no matter in what situation He has placed us. - Summary by Keith Salis (0 hr 38 min)

not Henty's best by any means, but enjoyable enough and worth reading for the account of the plague that struck London.
