The Vampire Nemesis and Other Weird Tales of the China Coast

Dolly
This unjustly forgotten classic collection of grisly horror stories from pseudonymous author Dolly brings us four tantalizing and terrible tales of hate-fueled murder, foul deeds, fierce creatures and other terrors that lurk in the dark. A vicious lout is given his just desserts at the claws of the titular creature in "The Vampire Nemesis". A spurned hypnotist exacts an evil revenge on the man who took his lost love from him in "Death Grips". "Cerberus" details the truly shocking and disturbing acts of a scarred and vicious cat as told by the ravings of a madman. "The Leonid" shows the grotesque aftermath of a ship blanketed with the dust of a fallen meteorite. These tales all take place in the coastal regions of southeast Asia narrated by British ex-patriots experiencing the unexplainable in an exotic locale. But make no mistake, these stories are all told in the grand tradition of Edgar Allan Poe, giving insights into the tortured thoughts and actions of mad men pushed to their limits and beyond. Be warned, this book contains events and descriptions of a highly disturbing and graphic nature at times beyond what is conventionally found in horror fiction at the turn of the century. Listeners be advised. (Summary by Ben Tucker) (3 hr 52 min)

Some stories were predictable, some were very entertaining, all in all a decent book. The readers were wonderful as always.
