At the conclusion of The Return of Clubfoot, Dr. Grundt has been left for dead on a south sea island by former secret agent Desmond Oakwood. Oakwood and his brother Francis are now retired from the Secret Service and are living comfortably retired in England. A spy novel with twists and turns. It is dated and some descriptions could be offensive, remember when it was written. A bit confusing at the beginning getting all the characters straight but then it went right into spy mode. I could totally image the villain from the MANY descriptions of him and his accomplises. The ending was a bit unexpected.
Well Read
Frank Bowden
The reader does a good job. However, in the stories it's a race to see who will be more inept in the end - the "good guys" or the "bad guys". The German villain is drawn as grotesque, repulsive and animal like. Jews an blacks - while less prominent don't fair much better.
different, but good

Unlike the previous two Clubfoot books, this one's not one big story, but rather a collection of loosely coupled chapters. Much in the style of Sherlock Holmes stories, but with Clubfoot as arch enemy and the Oakwoods as investigators. As always, perfectly narrated by Mark.
just as good as the other two

this book was well-read and a lot of fun to listen to
A fine conclusion to a great bunch of stories.
