Ten Minute Stories
Gelesen von Ben Tucker
Algernon Blackwood
Noted author of weird fiction Algernon Blackwood brings us a collection of shorter stories than some of his more well-known tales of terror. These stories illustrate the true breath of Blackwood's talent beyond just that of a purveyor of the supernatural. In addition to strange occurrences, mysterious phenomena, bizarre dreams and tales of the just plain weird contained herein, we also see a more jovial and comedic side of Blackwood as he pokes good-natured fun at the foibles of social manner in upper class society. We also see Blackwood's poetic prose in service of illustrating his love of nature in stories such as "Wind" and "Pines". This collection captures a master stretching his wings and showing the extent of his talent beyond what he was popularly known for. (Summary by Ben Tucker) (6 hr 12 min)

pleasantly surprising

A great assortment of stories. Would not have associated these with Blackwood . There is satire and poetry. Many illuminate man's foibles . His descriptions of nature are beautiful. All are read excellently by Ben. Definitely one for my favourites.
so talented!

Blackwood is so funny. Ben Tucker is so generous in showing it. “I’m helping a chap about a lease!” Does it seem likely a listener would laugh over this sentence for 5 minutes? That’s what I did anyway. Great.
Quite good

I thought the secret was a waste of time until I got to the lease and was cracking up. His friend reminded me of Disney's sword in the stone Merlin.

An excellent set of stories on interesting and unusual topics. Plus a few that are best described as "essays". A great reader makes them an enjoyable listen.
