Robert Barr
Robert Barr approaches romance in two short stories in his engaging and subtly humorous style.
In One Day's Courtship, British artist John Trenton visits Quebec and tries to slip in a quick canoe trip on his last day in town to photograph the scenic Shawenegan Falls.
In The Heralds of Fame, a freshman novelist heads to America with his suitcase packed with copies of his new book. Before heading out, he panic buys an extra copy of his own book at a bookstand to buoy sales after observing someone pass it up. This sets off a chain of events.

Fun Stories, Mostly Good Reading
Elf Brown
If one is taking one's time and making the effort to read a story, why, oh WHY, would one not inquire as to the proper pronunciation of place names (and/or other names and words, for that matter), especially when those place names are used as often as they are, in the first story? Improper pronunciation pulls the listener completely out of the narrative. Hearing "Sha-win-ay-gun" over and over was irritating enough, but what took the cake was "Ad-iron-dax". I will, however, give the reader a point, for having properly pronouced the word "foliage", something few seem to be able to do. He also does a good job with flow, cadence, and clarity. Overall, a good reader, who could be a very good reader, with a tiny bit of preparation, ahead of time.
THE SIMPLITY OF LOVE IN BYGONE DAYS
AVID READER
Two charming, simple stories of love in a fantasy world. Great visit to "the good old days," whenever and whatever they were. Good read.
