Father Brown - Classic Radio Crime Drama

(4,709 Sterne; 43 Bewertungen)

Father Brown is a fictional Roman Catholic priest and amateur detective who featured in 53 short stories published between 1910 and 1936 written by English novelist GK Chesterton. Short, shabby and unassuming, Father Brown is an unlikely investigator. But his keen mind and intrinsic understanding of human nature enable him to solve cases which baffle others. In 1974, to celebrate the centenary of Chesterton's birth, five Father Brown dramas were recorded and broadcast on BBC Radio 4. These full-cast adaptations of selected Chesterton stories starred Leslie French as Father Brown, with Willie Rushton as GK Chesterton and Francis de Wolff as Flambeau. The stories in this collection feature a master criminal and a precious silver relic; a theft at an exclusive hotel; a strange tower; black magic – and white magic; and a murdered judge:    The Blue Cross (08/05/1974);  The Queer Feet (05/06/1974);  The Perishing of the Pendragons (26/06/1974);  The Dagger with Wings (10/07/1974); and  The Mirror of the Magistrate (31/07/1974). Worth listening!

A fun radio adaptation of GK Chesterton's detective stories. Father Brown detects based on knowledge of and sympathy with human character, which is unusual in the mystery genre. Thank you for sharing!
