The Adventures of Superman
Robert Farrell

Arguably the most iconic old radio show of all time, The Adventures of Superman is one of the longest running programs in the history of American radio. This series spanned over 11 years from the time it was first syndicated as a radio show at WOR station in New York on February 12, 1940. Adapted from a DC comic book series created by Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster, Superman later became one of the most popular action hero’sof the century. Although it was originally positioned as a radio program that would target the teen and the juvenile sector, many of the shows listeners were actually adults! What set this old time radio show apart from others like it was that it merged reality and science fiction. In fact, it was the first program to feature an alien hero fighting criminals in society for the sake of planet earth. A testament to its popularity is that it is one of the few shows during the golden age of radio to reach over a thousand episodes. Add to that a stirring cast of characters brought to life by talented voice actors like Budd Collyer (Clark Kent/ Superman), Joan Alexander (Lois Lane), and Jackie Kelk (Jimmy Olsen) and a sure-fire hit was born. Enjoy the thrilling adventures of Superman as hepits wits against his nemesis Lex Luthor, and battles the forces of evil.

THE ORIGINS OF SUPERMAN

Somewhere on one of my media drives, I have a 2 hour long radio drama called "The Origin Of Superman". It was originally a 2 part broadcast called "The Origin Of Superman: The First Cycle" & The Origin Of Superman: The Second Cycle". Nearly the full 2 hours takes place on Krypton, and Jor-El discovers a planet that will hit & destroy Krypton within what they call 2 cycles, which I assume equals about 18 months. I assume that, because Lara reveals to Jor-El that she recently discovered that she was pregnant right after Jor-El's discovery of the planet, and Lara gives birth shortly after the start of the second cycle before Krypton's doom. This is when the ministry of Krypton decrees that leaving Krypton is strictly forbidden, but Jor-El builds the vessel that will launch Kal-El through space in his journey to Earth. It ends with Kal-El's landing & the Kent's finding Kal-El's ship. They rename him Clark, after the son they lost in France during WWI.

I love the Superman radio shows, however there are so many missing segments and the most annoying is the endings. Yes, I know they all have happy ending but it would be nice to hear them. Are some of the missing episodes on the ones that are labeled Superman page 10 and so on? I've looked at some with no luck in matching up titles. i love the background pieces, like two meals that Kent paid for with a dollar which included a tip. Thank You so much for providing these radio programs.
Thank you! Do have the rest?

Fantastic collection of the Superman Radio Show! You have the largest collection I have seen. I have been looking for months. Do you happen to have anymore? Not just Superman either. I am looking for some Suspense stuff as well.
