This historical novel takes place in Kent in 1657, and focuses on a local nobleman who stops at nothing to gain wealth, and his ward who is a victim of his crimes. The puritan influence and social cultural mores of the time provide interesting parts of the setting. (0 hr 24 min)

Orczy has a way of placing the reader in the time period she is writing about, in this case England under the Puritan zealous government. History, treachery, love, and a twisting plot. I enjoyed the reading, thank you for reading this novel
