The Girl From Hollywood
Gelesen von Joseph DeNoia
Edgar Rice Burroughs
The countryside outside of Los Angeles is a paradise on Earth: nature gives bounty on the land, the animals are majestic, the oaks breathe and the natural pools and ponds are all you would want on a summer's day. And if you are a Pennington or an Evans, life is simple and complete. However, every paradise has a serpent. For Rancho Ganado, that comes in the shape of Bootlegging, Drugs and Murder. All the vice of nearby Hollywood manifest themselves in the picturesque landscape, throwing the lives of these families into turmoil. - Summary by Joseph DeNoia

Convoluted tale

Very nice reading by the reader - but the story has a bit of "first draft" feel to it. So many twists and turns and then it gets crazy and then suddenly everything is okay. Not Burroughs best, but it was solidly entertaining.
an unexpected delight!

This was a great story! And very different from Burroughs other books. The heroine was pure and delicate and the story had lots of intrigue rather then lots of fighting. The reader had the perfect voice for it too!!!
Good but not His best
