The Last of the Mohicans is an epic novel by James Fenimore Cooper, first published in January 1826. It was one of the most popular English-language novels of its time, and helped establish Cooper as one of the first world-famous American writers. The story takes place in 1757 during the French and Indian War, when France and Great Britain battled for control of the American and Canadian colonies. During this war, the French often allied themselves with Native American tribes in order to gain an advantage over the British, with unpredictable and often tragic results.

Thank you for a lovely reading!

(5 Sterne)

I completely agree with the former reveiwer: "the character voices are harsh and grating to the ears". However, I find it to be a minor fault. On the whole the reading is coherent and moving. I have enjoyed it tremendously, and I'm grateful to the reader for his efforts. I would also like to applaud him for reading the whole book, which adds to my enjoyment as a listener (compared to the case of several readers sharing the task).

please, please, please stop using the character voices, especially the female ones. The character voices are extremely distracting.

Much better reader than some of the readers in the other version, which made me switch to this one, however I would suggest that volunteers please not try to imitate different characters voices! We do thank you for reading though. We get what we “pay for”. Enjoyed the book.

Great book and strong consistent recording. The voicing of female characters was either intentionally or unintentionally hilarious and a bit at odds with the tenor of the story.

Thoroughly enjoyable reader did a good job

Classic novel, good reader except for certain voices.

First and foremost, I very much appreciate that the same reader volunteered to read for the entire book. The reader does a good job, and I am certain that the time period dialects must have been challenging. I just wish the reader had not tried to use voices for the characters. I could not give it more than 3 1/2 stars because Cora Munroe sounds like Grover from Sesame Street, and I just could not get past that! This is a classic and I got through it for the love of the story, but it was tough to stay immersed whenever Grover, I mean Cora, spoke.

This is a Story I have long waited to hear. Reference to it comes up often in those interested in the pursuits of the Scout. I am grateful to the orator for his work committing this to a digital voice record so those without the free time to read it can take it in. The novel stands as a harrowing tale of life on the frontier during the French and Indian war where both the British and French advanced on territory of the First Nations and looked to assert European will over the land and people

much better version

I started listening to a different version but the readers kept changing each chapter. this version was much more consistent and easier to listen to. thank you
