Dis was a harsh, inhospitable, dangerous place and the Magter made it worse. They might have been human once—but they were something else now.
The Magter had only one desire—Kill! Kill everything, themselves, their planet, the universe if they could—Brion Brandd was sent in at the eleventh hour. His mission was to save Dis, but it looked as though he was going to preside over its annihilation. Space derring Do. Rip roaring action. Evil Aliens. A bewildered hero. Lots of fun. A rip roaring yarn.

(5 Sterne)

Fantastic old school Sci-fi, great characterisation, and a perfect pace. Brilliantly read as always by Phil Chenevert. This is the sort of science fiction I grew up on, and I still find it (especially Harry Harrison.)totally un-put downable. The best type of story for newbies and older wannabe spacers of all ages. Top notch story telling.

well read version of a science fiction antique

(3,5 Sterne)

The reading is well done by the story itself is a bit overworked. Harrison’s futuristic vision obsesses on biological evolution but he was unable to conceive technical evolution eg dropping H-Bombs (1960’s technology)But the story is fun despite the flaws and a window into that era of science fiction.

Bravo from Borneo

(4 Sterne)

Solid award winning space opera novel to the high standard we would expect from Harry Harrison and very well read by the narrator Phil Chenevert. I appreciated the plot line and ideas proffered about the population of planets and how these might develop. Now to find another Harry Harrison scifi novel
