The Siege of London
Gelesen von Nicholas Clifford (1930-2019)
Henry James
In this work, first published in 1883, James once again writes of an American trying to settle in England. The woman at the center, however, is not a product of the Boston or New York upper classes, but of the American West, and is thus distinguished from the characters of many of his other transatlantic works. - Summary by Nicholas Clifford (3 hr 36 min)

I usually enjoy Henry James' writing, although this seemed to go on a little long. There was a lot of French in it which I don't understand. That may be what distracted me often. However it did seem to draw on a little long. Nicholas Clifford is one of my favorite readers. I hadn't listened to any of his reading in a long time and so it was delightful to hear to him again.

Only Professor Clifford can bring Henry James out of the lofty verbosity. By today’s standards James is rather intimidating and he does go on at times. Yet, Professor Nicholas Clifford’s silky voice and his obvious joy in sharing Jame’s prose with his listeners is nothing short of amazing. I am forever charmed and humbly grateful. Professor Clifford is missed.
Well read and enjoyable to hear

Ahh, breaking into proper society in the 1800s was not an easy task but our heroine is out to try. The reader has a nice voice and cadence. If you like Henry James, you will like this
