Great story from the the American Victorian era. Of course very dramatic and full of mystery. This was my first Anna Katherine Green book. Look forward to listening to more of hers. Reader has a pleasant voice and does a fair job, but reads with an odd rythmn
Good to a point then eh

I was really enjoying this until the part where we hear Hermine's letter. She made assinine assumptions about someone even for time back then. Her sister & dad kept truths from her as a result which was wrong not noble. Then her dad changes from loving to selfish & cruel. I'd have told him to do us all a favor by playing with poison. Hermine's reason for her self appointed house arrest is silly & her sister joining in with her even sillier. Then it felt like the book ended abruptly. We find out that things will be ok but still. The reader's voice made up for all of this. His voice does rise a little then pause a couple of times in the majority of sentences. It is weird but I quickly got used to it & now he's one of my favorites.
She's done it again!

Once again, K.A.Green has kept me guessing, and glued to her story. A masterful plot, two stories coming together and finding a breathtaking resolution at the end. The characters are extremely well defined and memorable as usual with this writer. Thanks also to the reader who does a very good job with this tour de force!
THIS WAS NOT UNCLE BUCK
AVID READER
One loses patience at the naivety of Hermione, but that is perhaps attributable to the period. Nevertheless, it was an engrossing journey, although the twists threatened to become endless. As always, the smooth voice of Richard Kilmar was appreciated.

Richard Kilmer did a fine narration on this one but I can’t erase my other entry. All seven deadly sins in this murder/romance. Recommended (not on a foggy night!). Apologies to both narrators. 🤯
well read. average story
This author has written some really nice books. This one was nothing great. Very well read though.
Soft Spot for Doris

Good recording. Doris is the best part of this story, the rest is fluff. :D
