They killed the king. They pinned it on two men. They chose poorly.

There's no ancient evil to defeat, no orphan destined for greatness, just two guys in the wrong place at the wrong time. Royce Melborn, a skilled thief, and his mercenary partner, Hadrian Blackwater, make a profitable living carrying out dangerous assignments for conspiring nobles until they become the unwitting scapegoats in a plot to kill the king. Sentenced to death, they have only one way out…and so begins this tale of treachery and adventure, sword fighting and magic, myth and legend.

The Crown Conspiracy is book one of the six-book saga: The Riyria Revelations. Eschewing recent trends toward the lengthy, gritty, and dark, the Riyria Revelations is a return to traditional fantasy combining great characters, humor, and drama in appropriate measures. The series is told through six novels each a separate episode in a single epic tale . Across the entire chronicle, mysteries build, characters evolve, and plots thicken, but each is a self-contained story that can be enjoyed in its own right.

My favorite audio book so far of the many I have listen to you

(5 Sterne)

I have probably listen to 100 audiobooks and this one is by far my very favorite. The story and the characters were wonderful along with all the twists and turns and mystery. And the reader, oh my, the reader was excellent. I can't believe so many characters and made them seem so real. I look forward to reading the next book. Well done!

Pretty good!

Except for the immorality of some of the characters, this book was great. The setting, touch of magic, and humor throughout, was a great mix! It was a nice brake from the normal fantasy of elves and dwarves. Yes, it had them, but it wasn't focused on them, which made it a nice difference. I really enjoyed this book!

Loved the book. I do hope the rest of the series comes out in audio form. I have just pre-ordered all three books but I listen to a lot of audiobooks and would love these to be available. Free or buy, just make it so that they are not DRM ...

Michael, I just wanted to let you know that I thoroughly enjoyed listening to to 'The Crown Conspiracy'. It didn't hurt that you had Nathan Lowell reading it; he could probably make the phone book enjoyable! The store was fun, a great mix of intrigue, adventure and fighting and the ...

Great job on the audiobook of 'The Crown Conspiracy'! I was attracted by a comment that touted there would be no "chosen one" nonsense and indeed that was the case. Instead I heard a fine tale firmly in the old-school-fantasy tradition, well-stripped of tedious embellishments. I hope you get the ...

I really enjoyed this book - quite literally from the first page to the last. It was both well crafted, well written and well read. The characters were rich enough that one grew to like at least some of them although there were few one that I would like to ...

I found this book by accident. I finished it on purpose. The author captured my interest from the first moments. The characters are richly developed and the storyline intricately and expertly woven. The characters slowly but surely grew until you felt that you knew them and were intricately involved in ...

I'm bummed that I missed this podcast version, seems like everyone enjoyed Nathan as a reader. I look forward to the Orbit version. I enjoy audiobooks of my favorites on the long drive to work and the Riyria series definitely fits into that category.
