The philosophy discussed in the epilogue could come from any religion or theology, even from a belief system without one supreme being like karma. The concept of Providence is not exclusively Christian any more than Peace or Charity. Dragons could even have evolved through natural selection like everything else. Good story!

My reaction to this book was similar to Jim's (above: http://www.podiobooks.com/blog/2008/10/13/iron-dragons-book-1-the-saramond-quests/#comment-270764): The characters felt thin, lacking in emotional depth. Their language and word usage alternated between almost-modern and passably-early-queens-english. I had a hard time identifying with any of the characters, probably because they felt underdeveloped. Well written, imaginative and entertaining. The absence of gratuitos profanity is quite refreshing, but the "must have" super femme character with it's tired narrative ruined everything. The moment she reappeared, I knew how the rest of the story would develope and lost all interest.

Fantastic story, with noticeable theological undertones. Well, at least to me. I am a seminarian by the way. --I am now upset because I find he has not written the sequel to this adventure.
