Fiddle and Burn, Vol. 1 - The Adventures of Coyote Man

Part comedy. Part soap opera.
A fiction blog. A serialized sit-com.
A daily comic strip in prose.
When Rantz takes a job as Circulation Director of Fiddle and Burn: Guide to Fandom Magazine, he hauls his family to a new home. None of them realizes that this will lead to one bizarre adventure after another.
There's an epic struggle to throw away an old garbage can.
There are embarrassing incidents involving a very rude laptop computer.
There's a heroic quest to overcome parental objections and acquire an upgraded version of a violent computer game.
There are profound metaphysical breakthroughs revealed in the dentist's chair.
And, running through all the story lines, there's the strange figure of Coyote Man - Is he a noble superhero who defends the suburbs from vicious villains? Or is he a sad old man who lives in a dream world inside his head? It's a tale both comic and tragic, inspiring and pathetic. Some might even say... quixotic.
Whether it's comic book and science fiction fandom, the publishing industry or modern American family life, Fiddle and Burn squeezes out the humor and delivers it in easily digestible bite sized doses.

This podcast starts a little slowly, but give it a few episodes and it will hook you. The subplots intertwine nicely, and the stories are a nice change from the semi-violent sci fi I usually go for. It's funny and sweet and has some great ideas. The author has an ...

Overall I found the series amusing. The layout was a little strange between Chapters and episodes, but I learned to ignore that. While the story of Coyote Man seemed to conclude the sub story of Hal and his gaming adventures never really concluded and Rantz's wife never really becomes a ...

Its fun... its quirky... and really enjoyed this. It was like a little like a the Simpsons in podcast form (but back when the Simpsons was the smartest thing on TV).... My only regret is that there isn't a season 2... but if ever there is a second series I'm ...

Yes, give it a few episodes and it will hook you. This book is written in an original style that's ideal for an audio book. It has depth, comedy and fascination, as its subplots and remarkably well-defined characters take their turns onstage.

"Comic strip in prose" is right. The presentation is so fragmented that I got annoyed halfway through each episode, and finally gave up after six episodes. Sorry, I'm not the target demographic.
