Sentiment, Inc.

(4.1 stars; 138 reviews)

Sentiment, Inc. explores the intricate relationship between emotions and perceptions in a world where feelings can be manipulated. Imagine a future where the way we feel about people and objects can be altered at will, reshaping our very identities and relationships.

In this thought-provoking science fiction tale, Poul William Anderson delves into the implications of artificially changing emotional associations. As characters navigate a landscape where their sentiments can be controlled, the story raises questions about authenticity, free will, and the nature of love.

With a blend of philosophical inquiry and speculative technology, Sentiment, Inc. invites listeners to consider the profound impact of emotions on human connections and the ethical dilemmas that arise when those emotions can be engineered.

Nice fun listen

A touch slow in parts but interesting with a debatable but intriguing message. Very well read.

Classic Sci-fi

I really like the twilight zoneish classics. I listen to everything Phil narrates he's the best

Ew

The plot is so see through but they go through the motions of having no idea what’s going on. Maybe that’s what I don’t like about certain poul stories. The characters are just so stupid. I think it’s usually dated politics with him too. Anyway couldn’t finish. Terrible. The low bar on realism for sci-fi was shit below standard too. Bad!

excellent reading.. the story is quite middling

(2.5 stars)

This story is not sci-fi, it's psych-fi. There are no characters of interest just caricatures floating in and out. The plot line does not so justice to the main idea.

A neat tale well read

Nice old-school sci-fi short story. It's very typical of the time. Certainly worth a listen.
