So much so that I was pleased to understand how this is only the first part of this story (I'm now listening to Charlott's Inheritance, the second part, with the same enjoyment). Braddon's villains are mean but even they have redeeming features. Although we can forsee some events, whether the outcome is what we think they will be is not certain, there are so many pitfalls to overcome. I think the reader does a good job but how I wish Americans unfamiliar with English place names could check their pronunciation. It doesn't seem much to ask – after all they usually do their best with French, so why not English? That said I'd rather put up with the slight shocks than do without the audiobooks. So thank you.

Entertaining story would have been better with a better reader. His is mediocre at best. So many mispronouncitations! Such weired cadence! I think he eased off on the cadence as he went along, but still....

the rest of the book is missing. but it is a good story
