How to Live on 24 Hours a Day (version 2)

Are you really 'living', or just existing? Do you want to improve yourself or just continue to muddle through? Do you use the time given you each day, or just throw most of it away? These questions Bennett asks each of us and for those who want to really live and learn, offers very valuable advice.

Time is the most precious of commodities, states Bennett in this book. Many books have been written on how to live on a certain amount of money each day. And he added that the old adage "time is money" understates the matter, as time can often produce money, but money cannot produce more time. Time is extremely limited, and Bennett urged others to make the best of the time remaining in their lives. Which of us lives on twenty-four hours a day? And when I say "lives," I do not mean exists, nor "muddles through." Which of us is free from that uneasy feeling that the "great spending departments" of his daily life are not managed as they ought to be? [...] Which of us is not saying to himself -- which of us has not been saying to himself all his life: "I shall alter that when I have a little more time"? We never shall have any more time. We have, and we have always had, all the time there is. - Summary from the author's preface and the reader. (1 hr 36 min)

To the point

(5 stars)

Great voice. The content is good reminder to not waste time. A bit too much on reading but the point is made.

Still relevant to this day

(4.5 stars)

I was surprised to learn that the thoughts reflected in this book, published in 1908, has so much relevance to this day and age.

(5 stars)

Simple, but not easy to employ, ideas about the use of every minute of a day. The ideas are based on a focus on developing interests to the point of engagement and intelligence. Well written and read.

app really lets u listen to books w/no confusing steps

(3.5 stars)

A good book on how to stop procrastinating and start doing, regardless of whatever it is we dream of doing / becoming. Some of the ideas (such as everyone gets the same 24 hours a day, or that everyone needs the same amount of sleep, or that we all should wake up as early as possible) have been disproved by science so I will not say everything from this book is spot on. However this audiobook is still useful for motivational purposes. I will listen to it again on slow days when I need a mental push. Thank you, narrator, for bringing the written words into audio format!

the book's simplicity and reader's accuracy

(4 stars)

It is quite a simple book which is so practical and easy to assimilate. All the tools and guides are so practical and it is really the best book I have chosen to start this journey of time consciousness and management process. I have to acknowledge the reader's accuracy and clear articulation of words. I had an excellent read and can't wait to experience the impact of this book on my daily routine.

Ahead of it's time.

(4 stars)

Listen to it not as another self help book but as the idea of living in the moment, finding purpose and passion and self improvement at its orgins, fresh and grounded, before it became saturated in the milanial era. The reading is engaging and it properly accents the author's grounded English humor.

Relevant to the day

(4 stars)

His main idea of how to use the 16 hours in a day is brilliant. it helps you understand the amount of time that we waste. In all, it's a decent book that you can listen to.
