White Rose of Weary Leaf
Violet Hunt
Read by Lisa Reichert
Isobel Violet Hunt was a British author renowned for her literary salons, which hosted such notables as H.G. Wells, D.H. Laurence, Henry James, W. Somerset Maugham, Oscar Wilde and Ezra Pound. In White Rose of Weary Leaf (often considered her best work), principal character, Amy, voices many of Hunt's New Woman theories of sexual, financial, and intellectual autonomy. Amy manages to successfully navigate through society in her roles as secretary and governess, until her reputation as an "Adventuress" leads to a supreme test. - summary by Lisa Reichert (13 hr 20 min)

...Violet Hunt was a sexually emancipated woman who preferred married men. This novel reads as if it were taken from a chapter in her life. Probably a shocking story in the Victorian era it has enjoyable moments. The narrator is absolutely superb which made the story very much worth the listen. Thank you LibriVox and Lisa Reichert.
Fascinating Story

"advanced" thinking. A bit melodramatic, quite "talky", but worth the effort. Very well read
