The Girls of Friendly Terrace (or Peggy Raymond's Success)
Harriet Lummis Smith
Read by Daryl Wor
Peggy Raymond and her friends, Amy, Priscilla and Ruth, encounter a new neighbour, Elaine, and her family. While Peggy, in her usual cheerful and practical manner, welcomes them into the neighbourhood of Friendly Terrace, a variety of mysteries slowly unfold about them and why they ended up moving there. (Harriet Lummis Smith later went on to write four sequels to Eleanor H. Porter's "Pollyanna" books.) (Summary by Daryl Wor) (5 hr 43 min)

Excellent reader, thus four stars. The story itself was difficult to enjoy, as many older books can be because of how society has changed. The first thing it taught me is that Peggy is adorable, sweet and simply perfect. In contrast there’s Amy who somehow maintains her good humor despite repeatedly being a target of mockery for her weight. Even Perfect Peggy laughed at Amy. I listened up through chapter 5 and that’s enough for me. Based on the 25% to which I listened, I think it’s uncomplaining Amy who is the real example of someone others could emulate to their benefit! Thank you Daryl Wor, you’re a real pleasure to listen to! Now I’m going to look for other books you’ve read.
