Bill Nye's Funniest Thoughts
Bill Nye
Read by Phil Chenevert
Bill Nye was a famous American humor columnist in the middle 1800's. He said "We can never be a nation of snobs so long as we are willing to poke fun at ourselves." And he did exactly that in hundreds of newspaper columns that were later collected into books. This is a selection of just 35 of the most humorous, wry and downright funny cogitations of his, written of course in the somewhat convoluted style common in the 19th century which just adds to their flavor in my opinion. The selection process was rigorous: only those that made me laugh, giggle or snort are included. (Summary by phil Chenevert) (3 hr 34 min)

Reviews
great reader adds to funny stuff
Vivia
I think the previous reviewer who doesn't remember the stories must have fallen asleep as obviously happens a lot when you're being read to.... there just isn't anything no-star about them. Extra kudos to the narrator for taking the time to pretest the jokes on himself and only including the ones that made him laugh (snort, guffaw). More of the beauty of LibriVOX! Every day since recently learning about LibriVOX I bow down to this remarkable thing being done by, with, and for people who love to read. It's the go-to place to remember when sociopaths and celebrity worship intrude at every turn. Now if there is a subgroup of LibriVOX volunteers who also rescue abused dogs, I will have found the crême de la crême des humains! Volunteers, I cringe whenever reviewers complain about the narration. They know not what they say, most of them; and if they do mean to hurt your feelings, they are sociopaths and don't deserve any space in your brain.

These were pretty enjoyable. A good way to occupy a few minutes here and there. The reader seemed to have fun with it and added to my enjoyment.

Clever and well suited to Phil's narration.

Quite the humorous collection you have here! Bill Nye (no, no, not the science guy) is essentially a comedian who doesn't swear, and actually teaches you things occasionally. Appreciate the selection process here as well. Phil has gotta be one of the best LibriVox readers!
better than most
GonzoRanch
I don't remember a whole lot either, but I DO REMEMBER that it was certainly funnier than most stories that are called "funny". ?You want something funnier than usual? This is it, AND, "Dere Mable", something like that, available here.
