The Lone Ranger Rides
Fran Striker
Read by Roger Melin
Fans of the old radio shows and the TV series The Lone Ranger will recognize the characters in this book - the Lone Ranger, his faithful Indian sidekick Tonto and his trusty horse, Silver. The Lone Ranger Rides, a wonderful western story in itself, also details the origins of why a Texas Ranger would strike out on his own, wearing a mask at all times, and how he met his companions Tonto and his ever dependable equine friend Silver. As a young boy my brother and I used to play cowboys and Indians as well as The Lone Ranger and other heroes. I had never read the book on which the TV series was based but from you great reading of it I can understand now why he was idolized by us as children. He had the greatest quality I guess anyone can have and that is to give away his help without receiving any worldly reward. And that is what you and the other readers do for all who listen to your work. Your voice and many others seem to be capable of getting more commendation from the world by selling it than by giving it away. That is why I feel certain you and all of Librivox will receive gifts of more value than money or other worldly treasures can ever bestow. It was good to feel a kid again and listen to you with your great voice read again about one of my childhood heroes. God Bless you and Librivox.

I've always loved the Ranger. this is a much more gritty take than the old radio show or the Clayton Moore tv series. Much less cheesy than the Army Hammer version. I'd say it closely resembles an early 80s made for tv movie. All in all, a must listen
Hi-ho Silver! Away!

Growing up in the 1950s, I well remember watching the Lone Ranger on our b/w TV -- there wasn't much else on I can tell you! So I was so pleased to find that Roger had recorded this great story. Furthermore, I finally understand why he's called the Lone Ranger... duh. Thanks yet again to Roger M. who has contributed so much to my listening pleasure! TheBookworm (Manchester, UK)
An excellent tale!

Five stars for sure -- both for the writing and for the reading. I have always loved the Lone Ranger stories and this one is superb. Listen to this book and you will be riveted from start to finish.
Happy Listener!
Enjoyed story and reader. There is an issue with skipping of chapters.

I think it is a good book. The author has an extensive imagination and gives great details. I enjoyed the reader’s quality of reading and how he brings voices to the characters.
Again—for the first time

This origin story is much more mature than you have known before. Reads like a Zane Grey, not a Saturday morning TV show. The reader is excellent. Not to be missed.
