Tom Ossington's Ghost
Richard Marsh
Read by Patti Cunningham
Madge and Ella have lived at Clover Cottage for six weeks when a series of strange events begin to occur. A gentleman who arrives asking for a piano lesson from Madge, suddenly bolts out the back door and over the hedge when he sees a rough-looking character watching him from the street in front of the cottage. This man in turn, runs away when he sees a shabbily dressed woman come around the corner. The woman, marches into the cottage, declaring that the cottage is haunted, and she is the wife of the ghost! An attempted burglary, and a cryptic note left at the scene, just add to the mystery. (Summary by ppcunnigham) (5 hr 11 min)

A ROMP IN FANTASY
AVID READER
Marsh has an imagination which is out of the ordinary. This tale certainly proves it. I wonder, however, if the story would been as engrossing without such a superb reader.

This story was quite an unexpected package. At first I thought it was a cozy little mystery, with a bit of romance, humour and ghostliness thrown in. The main characters were likable and the plot travelled at a good pace. But as the story developed darker themes emerged and I realised the author had played somewhat of a trick on me. This story and some of the characters were not what I had thought. This book wouldn't be classed as a great mystery, or as particularly spooky, but it was an enjoyable little tale, and I hope I can find more books by this author. Many thanks to the narrator for her pleasant reading.

A mystery with a ghost. My kind of stuff. I was very bothered by the fact that the girls didn't get new locks when they moved in nor after finding out others were getting in with an extra key & by breaking in. Maybe locks weren't replaced in those days? Well, after the house was broken into wouldn't you at least make sure all the windows were locked? Hence the 4 stars. It was an interesting story regardless.
A nice little story...

I think the reader was better than the story. It was well enough, though, although a bit sappy.

This is one peculiar ghost 👻 story. It is both well written and excellently read... It ends rather uniquely as well.

Goes on and on and on in certain areas, too overdone, otherwise it could have been interesting. Good reader though.

Many twists and turns make this a must listen to. Thanks to the Librivox volunteer for reading it.

Hidden money, ghost, revenge, make this an interesting mystery. Justice and repentance, makes it a fulfilling story.
