Good overview for the Grant novice

(4 stars)

Slow-paced, sympathetic portrait of General Grant with a focus on military accomplishments. It’s short and glosses over his failures, but one does come away appreciating the complexity of the man. This was just what I wanted before tackling Grant’s own autobiography. The narrator has a sort of drawl that is well-suited for the text.

The war was not about North v South as described - & Lincoln was to finally realize. It was about right vs wrong, good vs evil.

this is easily as good as The Autobiography of Benjamin Franklin; which personally is among my absolute favorites. I hope you give this audiobook a chance, I feel you won't regret it.
