Bohemian San Francisco
Clarence Edgar Edwords
Read by LibriVox Volunteers
While describing his dining experiences throughout "Bohemian San Francisco," Clarence Edwords paints an historic panorama of California cuisine with all its cosmopolitan influences. Best of all, he offers tantalizing recipes culled from conversations with the master chefs of 1914 in "The City by the Bay." (Summary by Denny) (4 hr 36 min)

Reviews of restaurants in old San Francisco, after the great earthquake and fire, before WW1, over one hundred years ago. Lots of recipes included, each reastaurant's best. A lot of Italian places. Pretty short shrift to Chinatown, though. The author said that the Chinese tourist restaurants were too touristy, and the authentic places were too dirty. Multi-readers with the usual problems that may ensue, though most of the readers were very good.
