An Englishman is enjoying his dinner at Stephano's, at which he is a regular diner. A man enters quickly, sits at his table, starts eating his food, and hands him a packet underneath the table! So begins Paul Walmsley's acquaintance - and adventures - with American adventurer Joseph H. Parker and his lovely daughter, Eve. (Intro by TriciaG)

There were things I didn't like about the story, such as letting free two people who were actually the responsible parties for the killing of an innocent man. Also, the (customary at the time), hateful characterization of minorities. Still, the character that gives the book its title was interesting and not at all commonplace. Frankly, the stars mostly reflect the readers' excellence. All of them were clear and quite likeable. My favorite one, is ToddHW. Thanks to him and to all the others for their time, generosity and patience. I enjoy much more the work of these volunteers than the professionals who read the many CD audiobooks I have heard. Thanks.
Great fun and a good listen.

I really liked this novel. Lighthearted and quite the characters. I listen with earplugs and had no problem with sound issues. I would have been disappointed to have missed this book. ,:

This book is too much fun! The readers range from very very good to superb. I didn't want it to end.
I Enjoyed It

An old-fashioned enjoyable story. I hear the echo the other reviewer mentioned, but it didn't bother me.

The readers all did well, but the book is not up to Oppenheime's usual standard. Too far-fetched.
Very Poorly Read.

Another great book ruined by very poor readers...not at all suited to the characters.
