How to Care for the Insane by William D. Granger is a historical manual that explores the principles of caregiving for individuals with mental illness. Written in the late 19th century, this work emphasizes the importance of proper training for attendants, advocating for a structured approach to mental health care that prioritizes compassion and understanding.

Granger argues that effective caregiving can only be achieved through regular instruction and a commitment to high standards. He presents his ideas in a straightforward manner, aiming to equip caregivers with the knowledge and skills necessary to provide the best possible support to those in their care.

While the medical practices discussed may be outdated by modern standards, the themes of empathy, patience, and the need for education in caregiving remain relevant. This audiobook serves as a window into the historical context of mental health care, offering insights into the evolution of attitudes and practices in the field.
