In the six volumes of the Library of the World's Best Mystery and Detective Stories, Julian Hawthorne presents us thrilling and mysterious short stories from all corners of the world. Some of the stories appeared in this collection for the first time translated into English, and many of them come from unexpected sources, such as the letters of Pliny the Younger, or a Tibetan manuscript. In the sixth and last volume, we find stories of Oriental origin. (Summary by Leni) (11 hr 51 min)

Great stories, but not what it's titled

(4.5 stars)

Great stories, well read, from Asia and the Arab world. To call them mystery or detective stories is almost completely incorrect. A few stories involve crime to some extent, some include one or more murders, and a couple exemplify justice. But that's as close as it gets. Most are just wonderful stories: love stories, stories of bravery and adventure, morality tales et al. The selection is entertaining and exotic and gave me a glimpse of distant times and places.

stories were not very interesting or seem to have no point.
