J. Sheridan LeFanu's Gothic mystery novel is narrated by Richard Beckett, a young Englishman abroad in Napoleonic-era France. Whoa!

This story's ending came totally out of left field. I was floored. The summary covers the plot. Reader was excellent, and the story was a neat twister. Enjoy!

This was a great listen. Fun story and the narrator is excellent. I feel lucky to be able to listen for free. Her narrations and voices are better than a lot of audio books I've paid for. Thank you to all those who give their time and talents to these works.

Interesting & Enjoyable

It took me a few chapters to get into it, but then it took off and I didn't want to even take a break. I love listening to Elizabeth Klett, She really gets me engaged in any character she's reading. Very well done!

Fun read!

The story is engrossing and I was just as surprised as the narrator was at the way it turned out!

Predictable but still fun.

(3.5 stars)

The author has some over the top descriptions and excessively flowery language, and some of the story is super predictable, but it is still fun to listen to. Definitely a good shiver or two. I felt there were some loose ends but overall I was pleased with the story and will look for more of his works.

Slow narrative, good story

Without placing any blame on Elizabeth Klett, whose work I truly love, this story proceeds quite slowly at the beginning. It of course gives the listener clues towards the final result of the tale, but in the meantime they made me lose focus. Overall a good story, though I wouldn't revisit it.

Terribly Engrossing

Love the reader and the story... new to this writer, but I thoroughly enjoy him. This story caught me off guard- did not even suspect the twist at the end!
