Love the narrator. Still enjoying the book.

The book is very rich and fills a gap in an area of knowledge that is really overlooked by society in general. I really like the biographical and historical information it contains, shedding light on the interior lives of great mystics and saints and trying to organize a mysticism body of knowledge. I would not say it is an easy listening, but it gets easier if you had a few mystical experiences of yourself. The narrator is also very good (she gets better as the audio progresses, to the point most narrators of commercial audiobooks I know are left far behind).
Not for New Agers

This text by Evelyn Underhill, a great philosopher of mysticism, writes this text from a Christian perspective, as she is a Christian. What she doesn't put forward is new age Syncretism. So if you are looking for that you will be disappointed. This book is orthodox in its presentation of Christian spirituality while simultaneously looking at mysticism from a philosophical and psychological perspective. Evelyn Underhill was one of the most read authors on these topics from the 20th century. She continues to be important to scholars of religion as well as seekers.
A 'joy' to listen to.
