The Beckoning Fair One is a haunting tale that explores the thin veil between reality and the supernatural. Set in a decaying London house, the story follows a solitary writer who becomes increasingly entranced by a mysterious presence that seems to inhabit his home.

As he delves deeper into his work, the line between inspiration and obsession blurs, leading him to confront the spectral figure that beckons him from the shadows. Themes of isolation, madness, and the allure of the unknown intertwine, creating an atmosphere thick with suspense and unease.

Oliver Onions masterfully crafts a narrative that not only chills but also provokes thought about the nature of creativity and the ghosts that linger in our minds. This story stands out in the realm of ghost literature for its psychological depth and the eerie beauty of its prose.

the sound quality was a bit muffled, but I really liked this reader and really enjoyed her interpretation of the story and the lilting quality of her voice, it made listening very enjoyable!

(4 stars)

The quality of the recording is not the best, I had to turn the volume all the way up to be able to follow it. Otherwise nicely read. A man's fall into depression and isolation portrayed with the help of a haunted house. Worth a listen.

Muffled as hell
