The Intrusion of Jimmy

Read by Mark Nelson

(4.7 stars; 469 reviews)

The action begins with playboy bachelor Jimmy Pitt in New York; having fallen in love on a transatlantic liner, he befriends a small-time burglar and breaks into a police captain's house as a result of a bet. The cast of characters head to England, and from there on it is a typically Wodehousian romantic farce, set at the stately Dreever Castle, overflowing with imposters, detectives, crooks, scheming lovers and conniving aunts.

Topping Wheeze

topping wheeze and all that sort of rot. Jolly decent reader too, don't you know.

Fantastic reading of a fantastic story

I've been on a real Wodehouse kick lately. This story has been one of the most entertaining outside of the Jeeves stories. Mark's wonderful reading and spot on voices serve to heighten the enjoyment. You really can't go wrong with a Wodehouse story or a Mark Nelson reading. Put them together and you've really got something. Highly recommended.

Good book, very good recording

(5 stars)

This is a fun book, and the recording strikes me as very polished, with expressive reading, good character voices, and very good sound quality.

ONE OF HIS BEST

A delightful tale more intricately woven than most. I can only surmise what a great stageplay it would make--a ham's dream. Mark Nelson makes Wodehouse so enjoyable; I truly do not understand how he can keep from guffawing as he reads some of the inane dialogue. Highly recommended!

Another enjoyable story

Another enjoyable story by P J Wodehouse. The main characters are quickly at cross purposes leading to all sorts of fun. Mark Nelson's reading is wonderful. He brings the characters to life and sounds like he is enjoying doing so.

Another solid read from Wodehouse

It's part of his balmy world of consequenceless young men marrying sensible girls with a soft spot for idiots. Charming...

Another good story

Jimmy needs a job, IMHO... :-) Anyways, this is yet another adventure in mischief and misunderstanding by the FIRST master of misdirection, PG Wodehouse. Jimmy is caught breaking and entering by a rather less than sterling example of the law. Imagine his surprise when he learns that the daughter of this officer is the same lady he fell in love with on a recent ocean voyage! Of course, the officer isn't having a robber for a son in law, he'd rather have an English Lord... and the games begin! Mark Nelson does his usual fine job of reading. Enjoy!

Leaves you with a smile ...

I've enjoyed this one several times usually when the newer authors get too gruesome or sexually explicit — PGW's novels add a smile, a deep breath and the distance for better perspective. Narration by Mark Nelson (apologies for previous name error) is clear and, often, as enjoyable as the novel itself. Recommended.
