Alice's Adventures in Wonderland (version 4)
Lewis Carroll
Read by Eric Leach
Alice's Adventures in Wonderland (commonly shortened to Alice in Wonderland) is an 1865 novel written by English author Charles Lutwidge Dodgson under the pseudonym Lewis Carroll. It tells the story of a girl named Alice who falls down a rabbit hole into a fantasy world populated by peculiar and anthropomorphic creatures. The tale is filled with allusions to Dodgson's friends. The tale plays with logic in ways that have given the story lasting popularity with adults as well as children. It is considered to be one of the best examples of the "literary nonsense" genre, and its narrative course and structure have been enormously influential, especially in the fantasy genre. This is the second book that I've heard on Librivox and perhaps this could be the best one for a long time to come! So many different accents and voices and tones and emotions! There's a whole gamut of expressions that the reader has used to bring the book alive. A wonderful experience indeed! Thank you, Eric. You did an excellent job.
Great Reader

I've only listened to a few LV audio books, normally when I've bought them not realising what they were, on ebay. I haven't been very impressed with the ones I've listened to this way but this guy is a brilliant reader. Definitely the best reader I've come across on LV so far and I've even looked up what else he's recorded to have a listen to at a later date.

I'm embarrassed to say that at age 65 I had never read Alice in Wonderland. After listening to it, I could see why. Lots of bizarre characters that weren't friendly or heartwarming such as in The Tale of Peter Rabbit. I looked up what the meaning of some of the characters were and there's no consensus - it's just a total nonsense tale. The reader was fabulous.
yeah, it's even weirder than the movies

what did I just experience? I mean, I know that I was listening to an audiobook, specifically a classic English fairytale that has the word "nonsense" said way too much, and you know what!! it is nonsense, of the fun variety. also the narrator did a really good job.

Very enjoyable! I read it as a child and have now listened and enjoyed it all over again as an adult. Lewis Carroll was an excellent author and Eric Leach an equally excellent reader. Thanks so much. Very much appreciated.
Lovely audiobook

Eric Leach does a wonderful job reading this famous story. He does not just read, but does the voices and sings the songs. Lovely!
