A Double Barreled Detective Story
Mark Twain
Read by John Greenman
A Double Barrelled Detective Story is a novel by Mark Twain (Samuel Clemens), in which Sherlock Holmes finds himself in the American west.
At a mining camp in California, Fetlock Jones, a nephew of Sherlock Holmes, kills his master, a silver-miner, by blowing up his cabin. Since this occurs when Holmes happens to be visiting, he brings his skills to bear upon the case and arrives at logically worked conclusions that are proved to be abysmally wrong by an amateur detective with an extremely keen sense of smell, which he employs in solving the case. This could be seen as yet another piece where Twain tries to prove that life does not quite follow logic. (Summary by Wikipedia) (2 hr 0 min)

but had problems finding it to review it. Search didn't turn it up. This story has several lines kind of going at the same time. The main story line involves a story of revenge and retribution. Archie, our hero, is blessed with the gift of the bloodhound. His mother wishes to have Archie track down his father and punish him. This tracking leads Archie to cross paths with the famous, and thought to be dead Sherlock Holmes. How will a natural born bloodhound fair against the brilliant Holmes? Reader was good, easy to follow and understand. Nice job John, thanks! :-)
Another John Greenman triumph!

A marvelous Mark Twain mining camp whodunit! Replete with a score of Old West frontier characters - each one with his own unique accent flawlessly delivered by the irreplaceable master of all things Twain - John Greenman!!
Good book and a great reader!

Very interesting story. John Greenman gives the characters distinct but easy to listen to voices, no annoying accents. I highly recommend this audiobook.

I really enjoyed this unknow to me jewel of a story. Love Twains twists on traditional stories and his fun poking at Sherlock.

I think someone had suggested he do some serious writing "like Arthur Conan Doyle", and he knocked this out when he was drunk.
